ShotNotes: Golf

A complete manual for starting a round, logging shots, reading miss patterns, managing your Pro subscription, and troubleshooting the most common issues.

1

Open ShotNotes

Launch the app from your iPhone home screen. The dashboard shows your round history and a summary of recent shot patterns.

2

Tap the + button

Tap the + button on the home screen to create a new round. Enter the course name, date, and which tees you’re playing from.

3

Select a hole

Once your round is started, tap a hole number to open that hole’s shot log. You can move forward and backward between holes freely.

4

Tap Add Shot

For each shot, choose your club, estimate the distance, select the lie, pick a miss direction (left, right, straight, long, short), and mark the outcome. Add a note if anything is worth remembering.

5

Complete the round

When you’ve logged every hole, tap Complete Round. The round is saved to your history and the dashboard updates with your new shot data.

6

Review your patterns

After a few rounds, visit the dashboard to see which clubs are costing the most strokes, where your misses trend, and what your game looks like hole by hole.

1

Upgrade to Pro

Tap the Pro banner on the dashboard or go to Settings inside the app. Choose monthly ($9.99) or annual ($59.99) and confirm through your Apple ID.

2

Restore a purchase

If you reinstalled the app or switched devices, tap Restore Purchase in the app’s settings. Your subscription status will be restored from your Apple ID.

3

Cancel your subscription

Go to iPhone Settings › Apple ID › Subscriptions, find ShotNotes, and tap Cancel Subscription. Access continues until the current period ends.

4

Family Sharing

ShotNotes Pro does not currently support Family Sharing. Each family member requires their own subscription through their own Apple ID.

Troubleshooting

Common issues and how to fix them.

  • Rounds not saving: make sure you tap Complete Round before closing the app. Partially logged rounds are saved as drafts and can be resumed from the dashboard.
  • Pro features locked after purchase: tap Restore Purchase in app settings to sync your subscription status with Apple’s servers.
  • Reminders not arriving: go to iOS Settings › Notifications › ShotNotes and confirm Allow Notifications is enabled. Also check that any active Focus mode allows ShotNotes alerts.
  • Shot data looks wrong: open the round in history, select the hole, and tap any shot to edit the logged details.
  • App is slow or unresponsive: close and reopen the app. If the issue persists, restart your iPhone. A fresh restart resolves most SwiftData edge cases.
  • Still stuck: email support with your iPhone model, iOS version, app version, and a description of what happened.
